Project Tomahawk: The new PC!

Post by Prodigyzmined »

Hello everyone, I'm back!
I have finally replaced my aging gaming computer, and I have to tell you that this new one is an absolute Beast!

Specs:
Intel Core i7 4790k
Asus Maximus VII Hero
16 GB of Kingston HyperX Fury @1866Mhz
Corsair H100i
Corsair RM1000
Corsair Vengeance C70
Crucial M500 240 GB SSD
and 2 Western Digital 2Tb Caviar Black drives
For now, I'll keep using my two 7770 Ghz edition cards while I wait for AMD to launch the 300 series, when I'll get either 2 R9 380's or 2 R9 380X's. This thing is pretty much meant to do it all: Video editing, CAS, 1440p Gaming, Rendering and game recording! I'm super excited about it, and I hope it's here to stay for years to come! :)

Any change in case? This is the one I use now. Love the cooling. 3 - 120mm fans (2 front,1 back) 1 - 200mm fan up top

probably not, I got this one (with a modded window) because of it's military look, and it's cooling/space is nothing to be upset about: 2 120 up top, 1 120 on the bottom, 1 in the back and up to 4 up front. Even though those are 12cm fans, which can be noisy, i'm using the Corsair SP120 quiet editions, which are dead silent up to 1,000 rpm!

Very nice! :locomotive: Nearly the same components I plan to use on my new machine, too. The main difference with mine being the vid card. I like the looks of that case too! Congrats.

@Tangle - My current machine is using one of those Antec 900 cases and it has been a wise choice. I bought mine in 2009 (i think) and they have changed the top of the case where the usb inputs are just a little bit.

I have an Antec 900 from '07, great case been thru 4 upgrades of varying size. Only real change to case since then is USB 3 ports to top panel.
